What is Hygge Kinder House?
Hygge Kinder House in Boise was founded by two moms who truly understand the parenting juggle. Together, we have a whopping five kids between us, and if you can name a childcare situation, we’ve probably experienced it. Throughout all those experiences, one thing became crystal clear: when you leave your child with someone else, you’re leaving your whole heart.
That’s why we created Hygge Kinder House — a cozy home-away-from-home where every child is seen, safe, and supported, and where every parent can feel genuine relief knowing their child is in loving hands.
At Hygge Kinder House, everyone is welcome here. Our space embraces all backgrounds, identities, and experiences, ensuring that every child, family, and team member feels respected, valued, and celebrated for who they are.
And we believe that we can help each other flourish. When we support one another through the challenges and the joys, we rise and grow in ways we never could alone.
That’s why we encourage everyone at Hygge Kinder House to lead with curiosity. Here, we explore together, we ask questions before making assumptions, we make messes, we make mistakes, and we follow our wonder wherever it takes us.
And most of all, we choose kindness. Even when things feel hard or new or a little scary, we believe that a kind word or action can make all the difference.
Our Founders
Katie and her three children
Katie Swanson is a Boise mom of three and someone who still vividly remembers searching for warm, caring daycare options while pregnant with her third son. Feeling disappointed by what she found is what first inspired her to create Hygge Kinder House. With a background spanning software, operations, HR, and launching two successful businesses, Katie brings business expertise and a heartfelt personal mission to this work to create a welcoming, supportive environment that Boise families truly deserve.
Taylor and her two children
Taylor Payne is a mom of two and an educator at heart. She began her career teaching middle school history and English before discovering her true passion in early childhood education. Over the past four years, Taylor has supported children, teachers, and parents in administrative and leadership roles — mentoring educators, shaping curriculum, and creating warm school communities. Her favorite part is helping create nurturing spaces where kids feel safe and inspired to grow and where teachers and parents feel equally supported.
Together, we’re committed to making sure every corner of Hygge Kinder House reflects these shared values. Our goal is simple: to create a place where children can thrive, where parents feel supported, and where we can all help one another flourish.
